  11. Here we recommend some basic tips for getting the best
  12. performance out of this product.
  13.  
  14. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  17. IBM PC or full compatible with a 20Mhz 80386
  18.     processor or above
  19. Minimum 8Mb RAM
  20. 2Mb free hard disk space
  21. Windows 3.1, 3.11; Windows 95; Windows NT 3.5, 4
  22. DOS version 5.0 or higher
  23. Double speed CD-ROM drive and Microsoft CD-ROM
  24.     extensions software (MSCDEX) version 2.21
  25.     or higher
  26. 16 colour VGA, or 256 colour SVGA monitor.
  27. Microsoft mouse or compatible

  29. Network version:
  30. If you choose to install the data (NEWSOEDN.AND) and
  31. the application (SETUP.EXE) on to your network, you
  32. will need 165 Mb of free hard disk space.

  34. INSTALLATION
  35. ---------------------

  37. *   We advise you to restart your PC before installing 
  38. the New SOED, and re-start your PC again after installation.
  39.  
  40. *   We advise you not to have any other applications open
  41. (including Microsoft Word for Windows) during installation.
  42.  
  43.  
  44. USING THE NEW SOED
  45. -------------------------------
  46.  
  47. *   If you experience problems after double clicking on
  48. the New SOED icon in Program Manager (Windows 3.1),
  49. or Start, Programs (Windows 95); or if you have problems
  50. with fonts displaying incorrectly, please do the following:
  51.     1.  Re-start your PC
  52.     2.  Uninstall the New SOED
  53.     3.  Restart your PC again and then install the New
  54.          SOED again.

  59. *   If you have any font problems after installation, 
  60. please remove the following fonts from the system and 
  61. reinstall them manually:

  82. DYNAMIC DATA EXCHANGE (DDE) LINK
  83. --------------------------------------------------------

  85. *   If you wish to use the DDE link between the New SOED
  86. and your word processor (Microsoft Word for Windows 6
  87. and 7; WordPerfect 6.0 and 6.1; and Ami Pro 3.1), make
  88. sure you have the word processor installed before you install
  89. the New SOED.
  90.  
  91. *   In each session, you need to use the DDE link from your
  92. word processor to the New SOED in order to establish the
  93. link. The link from the New SOED to your word processor
  94. will not be functional in each session until this has been
  95. done.
  96.  
  97. *   The DDE link between the New SOED and your word
  98. processor can transfer a maximum of 75-90 characters at a
  99. time.
  100.  
  101. *   To remove the DDE link from Microsoft Word for
  102. Windows, select the menu item Tools - Macro. In the dialog
  103. box, select the macro newsoed and select delete. This 
  104. deletes the menu item, the shortcut key, and the macro 
  105. itself. The button can be removed by selecting the menu 
  106. item Tools - Customize. Select toolbars and then drag 
  107. the button away from the toolbar.

  109. UNINSTALLATION
  110. -------------------------
  111.  
  112. *   The best way to remove the New SOED from your
  113. computer is to use the UNINSTALL THE NEW SOED
  114. program. You will find that this program has been
  115. installed in the NEW SOED Program Group.
  116.  
  117. *   Restart your PC before uninstalling the New SOED,
  118. and re-start your PC again after uninstallation.
